Airbnb Tour: La Estrella Medellin Airbnb

Looking for an Airbnb alternative to the typical tourist neighborhoods in Medellín, Colombia? Then let me tell you about this La Estrella Medellin Airbnb.

It’s a great option if you’re looking for something more calm and authentic – especially if you’re considering moving to Medellín.

If you’re unfamiliar with La Estrella, it’s a charming town about 25 minutes from the heart of Medellín – offering a different and more authentic experience away from the usual tourist hotspots.

In this post, I’ll take you on a tour of my Airbnb in La Estrella and share why this accommodation is definitely worth considering.

The Kitchen: A Well-Equipped Space

Upon entering the Airbnb, you’re greeted by a well-organized kitchen. The space includes all the essentials – stovetop, bar stool seating, and plenty of cups, glasses (vasos in Spanish), dishes, and utensils. A nice touch is the hidden microwave (microonda), which I always find useful in an Airbnb.

One of my favorite features is the blender, perfect for making smoothies with the fresh fruits readily available in Colombia. Strawberries, bananas – you name it, I throw it in and blend away. Storage space is also abundant, making the kitchen a highly functional area.

A Massive Refrigerator and a Smart Tip

One of the standout features in the kitchen is the enormous Whirlpool refrigerator. This thing nearly touches the ceiling! While it boasts smart controls, oddly enough, it lacks a water dispenser – a bit of a miss for such a high-end fridge.

Here’s a tip: buy water in bags instead of cartons. It’s a common local practice that helps you save money while staying hydrated.

Laundry Convenience: The Lavadora

Having a washing machine (lavadora in Spanish) inside the Airbnb is a major plus. Instead of running around town looking for a laundromat, I can quickly wash my clothes right here. If you’re staying long-term, this is a feature you definitely want to look for in an Airbnb.

Living Room: Comfort Meets Functionality

The living room features a cozy sofa-cama (sofa bed), making it a comfortable place to relax. Even though I didn’t need a two-bedroom Airbnb, this one checked all the boxes for what I was looking for.

There’s also a TV with various local channels, though it lacks streaming apps like YouTube and Netflix. That’s not a dealbreaker for me since I’m not a big TV watcher. The room also has some nice artwork, adding character to the space.

The Balcony: Stunning Mountain Views

One of the highlights of this Airbnb is the balcony with breathtaking mountain views. The natural beauty surrounding La Estrella is simply incredible. It’s the perfect spot to relax, listen to music, or read while soaking in the scenery. If you’re someone who appreciates nature and tranquility, this place delivers.

Work Station: A Digital Nomad’s Setup

I have my work station set up in the Airbnb, equipped with my Acer Nitro 5 laptop. It’s a reliable computer that I highly recommend for those who need a solid device for work or content creation. If you’re looking for a laptop, this one is worth considering.

Bedrooms: Comfort and Space

Guest Bedroom

The guest bedroom is well-lit, with windows offering another set of amazing views. It even includes a mini-library with books on Colombia and Antioquia – perfect for anyone wanting to learn more about the country.

Master Bedroom

The master bedroom features wooden floors and antique-style furniture, giving it a cozy and elegant feel. The luminescent lighting adds to the ambiance, and of course, the room comes with even more stunning mountain views. Waking up to this scenery is a fantastic way to start the day.

Plenty of closet space is another big plus. In my experience, Colombian Airbnbs usually offer generous storage, and this one is no exception.

Bathrooms: Well-Equipped and Clean

Both the guest and master bedrooms have their own bathrooms, each with a full shower. They are modern, well-equipped, and clean – just what you’d expect from a high-quality Airbnb.

Is La Estrella Right for You?

La Estrella may not be the best option for a short-term tourist stay, but if you’re considering moving to Medellín, this area is worth exploring. It offers peace, nature, affordability, and a break from the tourist-heavy areas like Poblado. You get stunning mountain views and a more authentic experience, all while remaining within reach of Medellín’s main attractions.

If you’re open to exploring beyond the usual hotspots, consider visiting nearby municipalities like Sabaneta and Envigado as well. These areas offer more residential and affordable living options compared to Medellín’s central districts.

Final Thoughts

I hope this tour of my La Estrella Medellin Airbnb gave you valuable insight into a different side of Medellín. Whether you’re looking for a short getaway or a long-term living option, this area provides an authentic and peaceful alternative to the more touristy neighborhoods.

Remember: Make EVERY Experience a RICH Experience. See you in the next one!
